Sandy toes
2024 \ 30 x 30 (1.5” deep)
“Sandy Toes” is an ode to shoreline wanderings — that quiet, contented rhythm of bare feet tracing wet sand as the tide slides in and out. With warm undertones and softened transitions between water, sky, and shore, this piece hums with familiarity. It evokes the memory of salt air, sun-warmed skin, and the gentle hush of waves just out of frame.
Technique & Craftsmanship
Created with multiple layers of transparent acrylic washes, “Sandy Toes” reflects Laura’s signature approach: slow, deliberate layering with attention to light, softness, and subtle movement. Each stroke is designed to build atmosphere rather than detail, allowing the viewer’s own memories to complete the scene.
The canvas was prepared with a toned ground to give warmth from beneath, and the final surface is sealed with a matte varnish that gently diffuses light.

A Note from Laura
There’s a certain stillness that only comes when you’re walking the beach alone, early in the day or just before dusk. The world goes quiet, and it’s just you, your thoughts, and the rhythm under your feet.
That was the feeling I was chasing with “Sandy Toes.” Not a grand seascape, but the intimacy of that moment — grounded, gentle, and deeply familiar.
