The World of Laura Browning — Tokyo

I’m thrilled to look back on The World of Laura Browning, my 3rd solo exhibition that just concluded at Ocean Day Gallery in Tokyo.

In this show, I presented a carefully curated collection of works that deepen my exploration of light, reflection, and the quiet energy of water. The pieces shimmer between surface and depth, inviting viewers to be present in the in-between — to see how light fractures, dances, and lingers. It was a continuation of the visual dialogue I began in my earlier Tokyo and Kyoto shows.

Tokyo’s ambient light, its contemplative urban spaces, and its sensitivity to nuance provided a resonant setting. The gallery’s installation created passages of space around each painting, giving them room to breathe and allowing the viewer to move slowly, discovering subtle transitions in color and form.

I’m grateful to Ocean Day Gallery for their thoughtful presentation, to everyone who walked the gallery and paused in front of the paintings, and for the opportunity to bring this body of work into a city that understands light as language.
